Description

glypride 2mg Tablet is a long-acting oral anti-diabetic which lower the blood sugar level. It is used only in patients diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. It may be used along with Insulin or other medicines in order to achieve better control over the blood sugar levels. This medicine, when taken along with a controlled diet and regular exercise routine, may give better results.

Mechanism of Action of Glypride 2mg Tab:

Glimepiride Stimulates The Insulin Release From Functioning Pancreatic Β-Cells And Inhibits Gluconeogenesis At Hepatic Cells. It Also Increases Insulin Sensitivity At Peripheral Target Sites. Onset: Peak Effect: 2-3 Hr. Duration: 24 Hr. Absorption: Completely Absorbed From The GI Tract After Oral Admin. Distribution: Highly Protein Bound. Metabolism: Metabolised Hepatically To 2 Main Metabolites. Excretion: 60% Excreted In Urine And 40% In Faeces (As Metabolites); About 9 Hr (Elimination Half-Life).

How to use Glypride Tablet

Take glimepiride 2mg tablets in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glypride 2 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Glypride Tablet works

Glypride 2 mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose.

 

General Instructions

Take glypride 2 as directed by your doctor. Follow the instructions mentioned on the label. The medicine should be taken orally with breakfast or the first meal of the day. Adequate amount of water should be consumed while taking this medication.

Dosage

Missed Dose

The missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember. If tab glimepiride 2mg is time for the next dosage then the missed dose can be skipped.

Overdose

It is recommended to discontinue the medication and contact your doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms like dizziness, confusion, increased heartbeat, tremor and sweating after taking the medication should be reported immediately.

Hypoglycemia – glypride 2 uses can cause moderate to severe lowering of blood glucose levels. The risks are even greater in elderly, malnourished, people with kidney and pituitary gland disorders. You should report any such incidence to the doctor. Carry a reliable source of glucose like sugar candy to counteract the effect of low blood sugar levels.

Stress – Use of this medicine should be discontinued in patients exposed to stressful conditions such as a fever, trauma, surgeries, or accidents since it may not be effective in controlling blood sugar levels in these conditions. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor’s supervision.

Liver/Kidney disease – Glypride 2 MG Tablet should be administered with caution in patients with a disorder of kidney and/or liver. Suitable dosage adjustments and monitoring of blood sugar levels are necessary in such cases.

Allergy – This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with known history of allergy to Glypride 2 MG Tablet or other drugs belonging to the Sulphonamide class of antidiabetic medicines.
